The Beatles had no problem getting a #1 hit with EIGHT DAYS A WEEK, as people in the mid-60s were far more literate than they are today (even on a grade school level), and just knew it was "Eight Days A Week", not "Ate Days A Weak".
Back then, they just KNEW.
