Song Analysis: Let Your Yeah Mean Yeah

One thing about the early to earlier periods of what they call "the rock and roll era" is how much more knowledgeable and cultured the songs were----even the second-rate "purely commercial" entities.

...even a lot of the hard rock offerings of the late-60s/early-70s showed a certain degree of "class"----good arrangements, traditional song structure, even intelligent lyrics (or at least somewhat poetic ones anyway).  You had The Who, The Doors, even occasional social commentary by The Rolling Stones---alongside The Small Faces, and The Bubble Puppy (who were more in the "somewhat poetic" category of lyrics),

Enter this 1973 single by a throwback "60s garage-band" style group out of Ann Arbor who billed themselves as Brownsville Station----their rehashing of a Jimmy Cliff composition loosely inspired by the book of Matthew, Chapter 5:Verse 37, of the New Testament

...although the phrase itself, in this case, is being used to express a guy's sexual frustration and emotional irritation with his indecisive girlfriend who can't seem to make up her mind about whether or not she really wants to actually make out "all the way" with him.
